Correlation of radiological and podographic examinations of adult patients who complained of foot pain

Özet (EN)

Objective: There are conflicting results between the radiological, podographic examinations used in the diagnosis of foot pathologies. Therefore, unnecessary, incorrect treatments can be applied (surgery, orthosis, rehabilitation). The study was carried out with adults admitted to orthopedic clinic with foot pain complaint. The correlation between the radiological, podographic examinations was determined, a reliable diagnostic method was determined. Thus, it was aimed to prevent unnecessary improper treatment practices Methot: Between July 2017, January 2018, 60 patients with radiological, podographic measurements who were admitted to the Orthopedic Traumatology Clinic of Ege University Medical Faculty were included in the study. Measurements of lateral talocalcaneal, talofirstmetatarsal, talohorizontal, calcaneal pitch were measured on foot graphs. According to the reference ranges of values, the foot was measured as pes planus, pes cavus and normal. The medial longitudinal arch height was measured the same patients using the measured static, dynamic arch index values (ratio of the middle leg pressing area, total area of the front, middle and back legs pressing areas ) at 100 cm Rs Scan International Gait 2nd Generation® podography divece. According to the reference values, the foot was evaluated. Correlation of the results of radiological, podographic measurements was compared. Results: There was no relationship between gender, age, height, foot number, foot pathology. (p> 0.005). The relationship between body mass index, pathology was significant (p<0.001). There was no significant difference between talocalcaneal, talo-firstmetatarsal, talohorizontal angle, static, dynamic arch index measurements (p> 0.005). The relationship between calcaneal pitch, arch index was low in significance (p> 0.005). 4 Conclusion: Our results showed that arch index is much more reliable than radiological measurements in determining medial longitudinal arch height by podographic measurement so that accurate diagnosis in clinic, proper treatment methods can be applied.
