Abstract (EN)
The accessory navicular bone one of the most accessory ossicle of the foot and included in the differential diagnosis of medial foot pain in patients. In these situations, a knowledge of location, presentation may benefit. The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence and distribution of the accessory navicular in our population. Accessory navicular bones were retrospectively examined in 2246 ( 1230 women and 1016 men) patients feet radiographs grouped by gender from August 2017 to January 2019. Presence, type, affected side, symptoms were recorded. Graphies were classified as those with right foot grafies only, with left foot graphies only and those with bilateral foot graphies only. In 16% of all these individuals (2246), the accessory navicular was present. However in 24.4% of bilateral foot radiographs of 602 patients was found. The female patients were more likely to have accessory navicular bone compared with male patient. Accessory navicular bones were detected in 17.7% as bilateral. In bilateral graphies the type incidence was found 55.8% for type 1, 14.4% for type 2, 19.7% for type 3, 10% for different type in right feet and left feet in women. The type incidence was found 13.9% for type 1, 19.4% for type 2, 47.3% for type 3, 19.4% for different type in right feet and left feet in men. Type 1 most common among women feet with accessory navicular bone, type 3 most common among male feet with accessory navicular bone (p<0.001). Patient symptomotology was related to the presence of foot pain in 26% of individuals with accessory navicular. We determined that accessory navicular bone has been presented important frequenty in our society. Accessory navicular bones may be more than previously thought in population.
