Abstract (EN)

One of the most challenging design problems in microwave systems is to provide high electromagnetic isolation between adjacent circuit modules. Mostly, conventional techniques have been implemented in which a metallic housing is placed on the circuit to suppress possible electromagnetic interference (EMI). These traditional techniques do not contribute to the suppression of unwanted noise in the metallic enclosures. Metal enclosures with PMC surfaces, which have been created using periodic metallic array of pins in recent years, have been presented in the literature as a solution that can eliminate these problems. In this study, a novel metal PMC surfaced enclosure with a circular cross section pin array design with adjustable operating frequency range was proposed. For the proposed model, firstly 5x5 pin array was used, and the electrical performance of the metallic enclosure was numerically examined. To better examine the effects of circular cross section pin arrays on the electrical performance of the metal enclosure, numerical analyzes were repeated by removing the pin arrays inside the enclosure, and the frequency-dependent reflection, transmission, near-end coupling, and far-end coupling values were compared. In the continuation of the study, the proposed model was applied to the microwave module which has three different operating frequencies and the numerical analysis was repeated. To validate the accuracy of the numerical analysis results obtained in the study, a prototype of the metallic enclosure with adjustable PMC surface, including 6x6 circular section pin array was performed, and also electrical tests were carried out.
