Job satisfaction among family physicians in Aydin province

Considering the contributions of primary health care services to health systems and public health, it is very important to identify the factors that contribute to the quality of primary health care services. Family physicians are primary care physicians who are first consulted for the diagnosis and treatment of individuals without any discrimination. Considering the efficiency of family physicians in terms of themselves and their service recipients, it is of great importance to meet their expectations. In this direction, it is aimed to examine the job satisfaction levels of family physicians and to determine the affecting factors. This study was conducted with a sociodemographic data form answered by 111 family physicians in Aydın and a questionnaire consisting of the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. Job satisfaction levels of family physicians in Aydın were found to be moderate. Internal job satisfaction was higher than external job satisfaction. Accordingly, while physicians reach internal job satisfaction more easily, they find it more difficult to reach external job satisfaction. This situation shows that the expectations of family physicians should be evaluated and regulations should be made on issues such as wages, working conditions, and corporate identity. It has been found that there is a statistically significant difference between being satisfied with his salary, wanting to quit his job if the conditions are suitable, presence of a mental problem, having social support, being able to spare time, the number of physicians working with in FHC and the strength of communication with his colleagues and general job satisfaction score. It is thought that the results of this study will contribute to producing local solutions and be a reference for future studies. Key Words: Aydın province, Family physicians, Job satisfaction.
