Examination of the relationship between individuation-seperation, emotion regulation and borderline personality organization in terms of psychodynamic perspective

In the present study, the relationship between separation-individuation, emotion regulation and borderline personality organization was investigated from a psychodynamic perspective. The sample of the study consisted of participants between the ages of 18 and 65 who did not have any psychiatric diagnosis. Data were collected using the Demographic Information Form, Borderline Personality Inventory (BPI), Seperation-Individuation Inventory (SII) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). DATA was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The data obtained from the participants were analyzed through Independent Sample T-Test, One Way ANOVA, Multiple Linear Regression and Hierarchical Regression tests. According to the findings, separation-individuation predicts borderline personality organization in a meaningful and positive way. Difficulty in emotion regulation which is another variable of the study, predicts borderline personality organization in a meaningful and positive way. Splitting and differentiation which are the subdimensions of individuation-seperation and drive and purpose which are the subdimensions of emotion regulation predicts the borderline personality organization in a meaningful and positive way. The findings were examined in terms of their relations with other studies in the literature in the discussion part of the study.
