Analysis of Aytül Akal's series "Süper Çocuklar" in terms of vocabulary and its contribution to Turkish education

Language is the most important cultural heritage of a community. To benefit from the expression possibilities of a language, it is necessary to know the vocabulary of that language. Vocabulary is concept that includes elements such as proverbs, idioms, reduplications, terms, foreign words, and formulaic expressions in a language. In this context, it is aimed to examine Aytül Akal's Super Children novel series (Renk Delisi, Ses Delisi, Koku Delisi, Süs Delisi) in terms of its vocabulary and its contribution to Turkish education. For this purpose, vocabulary elements such as proverbs, idioms, formulaic expressions, reduplications, terms, translated words, foreign words and filler words in the mentioned works were determined and their frequency of use was revealed. This study is descriptive research. In this descriptive study, an existing situation has been tried to be described as it exists. However, in this study, the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. With the data obtained, the number of proverbs and idioms, the frequency of use; number of reduplications, frequency of use and formation patterns; the number of terms, frequency of use and related science; the number of phrases, their frequency, and the context in which they are used; number of translated words, frequency of use and source language; number of foreign words, frequency of use and source language; filling words, frequency of use are revealed. A total of 10055 vocabulary items were found in the evaluated children's novels. Of these items, 5557 were foreign words, 2083 terms, 1363 idioms, 445 formulaic words, 380 reduplications, 204 filler words and 23 translated words. However, no proverbs were found in the analyzed works.
