Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the usage of structural steel in low-rise buildings according to structural system which is used and the span width by giving examples.In first parts of thesis, I explain low-rise buildings, structural systems, steel materials and steel structures. The definition of steel is given and the development of structural steel in architectural history is given chronologically. Add to this, structural steel production methods and properties are given also. And then steel products are described. Structural steel combinations and connection methods are defined. Structural steel in low-rise buildings are studied in the concept of geometrical structural system.In conclusion, some low-rise examples that is built in iron-steel sector in Turkey are researched and to investigate about structural system and the distance passed through. After this, made an evaluation and results shown by table. At the end of the thesis, I designed ?Adnan Menderes International Airport Entrance Canopy? and this project?s, plans and cross-section drawings are attached.
