Abstract (EN)
Chemical sensors, which are part of the sensor family, have been actively used for more than half a century. These types of sensors are also affordable, portable and environmentally friendly; that makes them a preferred method for a wide range of sample analysis in various complexity matrices. Fluorescent sensors are a type of chemical sensors that show fluorescence properties. They consist of two ends: receptor and fluorophore. In the structure, these two groups work simultaneously, and fluorescence occurs at the fluorophore end, while the receptor ends interact with the sample. One of the most important criteria for the molecule to display sensor activity is the high selectivity and sensitivity of the fluorophore and receptor. Many Aza-BODIPY based compounds, which are members of the BODIPY family and exhibit fluorescence activity, have become molecules of interest in sensor research thanks to their interesting photophysical properties. It exploits the fluorescence of the Aza-BODIPY skeleton in its sensor structure and acts as a fluorophore. Studies conducted in recent years have revealed the potential of Aza-BODIPY-based fluorescent sensors to be used in the determination of pH-dependent (operating at acidic, basic, and neutral pH values), anions-cations and biomolecules In this thesis, fluorescent Aza-BODIPY molecules that have the potential to show sensor activity towards to cations and anions were designed and synthesized. A total of 16 new molecules, eight reactants and eight products, were synthesized and characterized within the scope of the thesis. All synthesized molecules were characterized by NMR, FTIR, QTOF-LC/MS, UV/Vis and, where possible, X-ray crystallography.
