Abstract (EN)
The formation of national press that occupies an important place in the life of Azeri people happened in the last quarter of X:X century. The publishment of newspapers and journals in Azerbaijan which were the means of new political, cultural and popular relations for all eastern nations is closely connected with the establishment of englightenment movement, theatre, and educational institutions. 1918-1940 is considered to be an important period in the press history of Azerbaijan.The pupose of this research is to analyze the condition,development, interest circles of Azerbaijani press in the given period. The research work covers 1918-1940, it s possible to divide this period into 2 parts. Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918-1920 and Azerbaijan invaded by Soviet Russia on April 27, 1920 up to 1940. These two periods differ from each other not only chronically but also from viewpoint , purpose and methodologically. The major purpose of the thesis is to investiyate the condition of press in both periods, contribution of Republic period to the establishment of press institutions having democratic, free and national values, at the same time, totalitarian pressure of Soviet regime and its ideological structure on mass media, and its result. The thesis consists of 3 parts and the first part deals with formation period of Azeri mass media having 140 years history,closure reasons of newspapers and journals published in the early years of ADR . The second part of the thesis deals with the condition of Azeri press, influence of ideological struggle happened in the country on the mass media during Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The role of press in the period of freedom of Azeri people , the adoption of " Press law" in the parliament, creation of juridical base in this field are investigated. The third part deals with political, economic and social changes happened in the country after the occupation of ADR by the Bolshevics, and influence of this period on the press during 1920-1940, the newspapers and journals having national spirit were closed and publishing of newspapers glorifying the regime were established instead. In this part immigration Azeri press, its famous representatives, their newspapers and journals were taken into account as well. In the final part of the research the results were enumerated.
