Abstract (EN)

This study focuses mainly on works for flute by Azerbaijani composers. Over the past century, a very great number of beautiful flute pieces have been composed in Azerbaijan; hence, it is nearly impossible to analyze all of them in a single volume. This study includes only some of the most prominent and internationally renowned pieces. The titles in this thesis are as follows: "Problem", "Purpose", "Significance", "Assumptions", "Limitations", "Definitions", "Method", "Research Method", "Population and Sample", "Data Collection Technique and Data Collection Tool", "Data Analysis". In the first part of this thesis, an overview of the history of Azerbaijani classical music, the creation of flute schools, the creation of the first musical educational institutions and orchestras in the field of musical performance and education, have been presented. The second part of this thesis is devoted to the creative works of the composer Gara Garayev and the form analysis of the play "Aldonse" from his "Symphonic Engravings of "Don Quixote". In the third part of this thesis, the life of the composer Fikret Amirov and a form analysis of his suite for flute, "6 Pieces", created in Azerbaijani song-dance character, have been provided. In the fourth part of this thesis, the creative style of the composer Tofik Bakihanov has been described. Additionally, two of his concertos for flute, No. 1 and No. 3,as well as The Sonata for Flute, have been performed. In the fifth and final chapter of this thesis, two works by Arif Melikov have been analyzed: The Flute Concerto and the song "The Dreams of Komde" from the ballet "The Legendary Tale of Two Hearts".
