The history of Azerbaijan Republic Ordubad Silk Cocoon Factory and its contributions to national economy

Abstract:The first basic principle of national capital raising projects in globalized world is that countries can pursue a sustainable, permanent policy rather than monthly, annual revenues. Today, different methods are being tried by world leaders in search of methods to sustain national economies of their countries. For this reason, states have made efforts to maintain their historical tradition and have applied socio-economic history studies in order to develop sectors that do not provide their own income. In this context, this thesis, written on the development of the agricultural sector and the development of the silk industry in Ordubad, Azerbaijan Republic, is an additional sample to the era. Although the city of Ordubad has been an important part of the historical "Silk Road" for a long time, silk production has stopped today. Azerbaijan Republic Silk-Production program aims developing silk-production sector in the country. Therefore, in this thesis, a scientific basis for the discussions about the reestablishment of the Silk Cocoon factory of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ordubad), which operated between 1934 and 1996, was examined. The thesis also includes historical information about how factory was established, the socio-economic life of the city and the state of silk farming in the world during that time. In this study, the economical contribution of the factory to the country is also discussed chronologically by the examination of the documents. The reasons for the closure of the factory were found in the documents of the State Archive of Ordubad City, and the method of how to solve the obstacles that will arise in the reopening is given. Based on the handwritten works, research has been carried out on the socio-economic life of the factory, which has pioneered the economic development and the source of jobs in the city. The state of decay in the documents, the absence of such a work so far, the necessity of investigating the history of the factory is revealed, historical research and socio-economic life of the thesis to be a positive impact on the national economy is significant and thus increases the necessity to to do this reaserch. This scientific master thesis is also a pilot example for economic development in terms of a given factory sample. As the first study chronologically done, on the development of national economy related to silk production history of Azerbaijan, it will also provide some theorethic information. The factory, which was the continuation of the "Silk Road Project", has positively affected the world market throughout history with its silk cocoon, silk seed and raw silk wire production.
