Energy dimension of Azerbaijan foreign policy

This work takes up the relations between foreign policy problems andoil policies of the Azerbaijan Republic that became independent in 1991. Thethird Azerbaijan Republic that is established in 1991 is an attendance of 1918Azerbaijan Public Republic. After the declaration of independance,Azerbaijan, began diplomacy for recognition. Azerbaijan became as memberof the United Nations as a sovereign state. But just befor its independence,Azerbaijan faced separatist activities that were supported by the outsidersand were a threat to the integrity of the country. Azerbaijan faced unstabilityand speratist activities because of its rich energy resources. The Azerbaijangovernment as soon as possible wished to open resources of country forshare to international energy companies. In the process of meeting aboutsharing agreements of energy resources and also in the process of selectingappropriate pipeline projects for the taking energy resources into internationalmarket Azerbaijan faced pressure the some centers. Azerbaijan?s energypolicies varied in the term of different governments. After the signing of oilcontructs, oil played an important role in the process of solving out theproblems of foreign policy problems. Honestly, oil effected Azerbaijan foreignpolicy as negatively as it did positively not only. Oil which effected Azerbaijanrelations in a positive way with allied countries in the terms of economic,political and security sphere but also opened a new regional and globalstruggle for Azerbaijan?s location and energy resources between big powers.Specially the struggle which was hoped to finish after the oil contructswere signed, in contrast became stronger. Nowadays, the geopoliticalstruggle is going on and this process naturally effects the Azerbaijan foreignpolicy. Except this geopolitical process view of Azerbajan?s foreign policy,there are historical threat centers that Azerbaijan must creat careful policiesin the relations with them.
