Investigation of career barriers faced by female teachers in azerbaijan in the context of glass ceiling syndrome; Through the example of Baku province

In this study, it is aimed to examine the obstacles faced by female teachers in their careers in Azerbaijan in the context of Glass Ceiling Syndrome. The research was conducted in the general survey model from quantitative research methods. The study group was determined using simple random sampling method and consisted of 400 people representing female teachers working in Baku Provincial Directorate of National Education in the 2023-2024 academic year. The data were collected with the "Glass Ceiling Barriers Faced by Women Teachers Related to Management" scale, the validity and reliability studies of which were conducted by Güney (2019). SPSS 25.0 package program, Levene's homogeneity, Anova, Mann Whitney-U, Kruskal Wallis H and Scheffe tests were used to analyze the data for age, marital status, number of children, educational status, years of service and branch variables. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the participation in the sub-dimensions of "organizational" and "individual" factors was at a moderate level, but there was lower participation in the sub-dimensions of "social" factors. It was revealed that there was a statistically significant difference in the opinions of the teachers in terms of age, educational status, marital status, number of children and seniority variables within the scope of the "social", "organizational" and "individual" sub-dimensions and the overall scale regarding the Glass Ceiling barriers faced by female teachers in their careers. It was determined that the branch variable was not a factor that created a statistically significant difference. Keywords: Female teachers in Azerbaijan, Career barriers, Glass ceiling syndrome.
