Abstract (EN)
The Aztec people are thought to have come from Nayarit, located in the north of present-day Mexico, in the 14th century. They were able to settle down after long migrations and wars. The Aztecs started their new life with houses made of reeds and developed over a period of a hundred years and made Tenochtitla their capital. Religion, which is of great importance to the Aztec people, has also enabled their development in art and architecture. The Aztec civilization is known as the most religious, indigenous people in the Mexican area. Stars and sky lie at the heart of their polytheistic beliefs. Over time, their interactions with other indigenous peoples enriched their culture and religion. Their devotion to their gods and their religion impacted music culture as in many other fields, and they developed various instruments to be used both for religious rituals and on the battlefield. Structural studies of the death whistle, which draws attention among these instruments and takes its name from their gods, sound frequency ranges, and production methods, have been researched and applied. In line with these applications, the producibility of the death whistle has been observed. There is no record of the clay properties of the original ceramic death whistles, how they were shaped, and at what temperature they were fired. With the late discovery of skull-shaped ceramic whistles in the Aerophone group, there are many arguments about their usage areas. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to create a resource for researchers who will research death whistles, which Aztec craftsmen skillfully developed the ceramic-sound relationship.
