Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study,it?s researched that producing synthetic vollastonite withAfyon region diatomit and the effects of boron (borax, boricacid) addition inmarble wastes and (as producing conditions) synthetic vollastonit production bysintering method and producing synthetic vollastonit at autoclave conditions byhydrothermal way.Empirical study consists of two stages:Stage 1; Preparing %1-2-3(borax, boricacid) mixed and unmixed specimensby sintering method and then producing synthetic vollastonit by sintering at900-1000-1100 CStage 2; Preparing %1-2 mixed and unmixed specimens by hydrothermal wayat autoclave conditions and producing synthetic vollastonit by sintering at900-1000 C after the transformation of CaO Ca(OH)2 and maintaining atautoclave conditionsStage 3: Testing the vollastonit samples (that was obtained by solid casesintering at autoclave conditions) in Umpaş Seramik floor tile glazecompositions and examining the analysis resultsiiiConsequently; analysis results of the vollastonit obtained by solid case sinteringand synthetic vollastonit produced at autoclave conditions were compared withcommercial vollastonit. Accoarding to the analysis results it was obtained thatsynthetic vollastonit production can be achieved by solid case sintering and alsoat autoclave conditions from our natural sources .It was observed that there?s nosignificant effect of boron addition on synthetic vollastonit production.Obtained vollastonit samples were tested in Umpaş Seramik Factory floor tileglaze composition.It was obtained that with solid case sintering method %1 boricacid added synthetic vollastonit sample results and commercial syntheticvollastonit results are closer at the end of the blot, abrasion and harkort, sollied,corrosion tests that done with glazed samples.Glazed samples that was prepared with synthetic vollastonit that was produced atautoclave conditions had worse surface view and as a reult of this they gavenegative analysis results.2006, 73 pageKey Words:Synthetic Vollastonit, Diatomit, Borax, Boricacid Calcination,Autoclaveiv
