Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of the current study was to investigate the serial multiple mediation effect of parental self-efficacy and relationship quality in the relationship between sexist attitudes and father involvement. In this study 420 individuals and the mean age was 37.89 years (SS= 4.744) completed measures of the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory, Sexist Attitude Toward Child Scale, Parenting Sense of Competence Scale, Positive–Negative Relationship Quality (PN-RQ) Scale, Inventory of Father Involvement and a Demographic Information Form. Indirect and direct effects between the relevant variables were assessed with bootstrapping method by using the SPSS PROCESS macro (n = 5000 bootstrapping iterations). The results of the six serial multiple mediation models disclosed that (a) Serial multiple mediation effects of paternal self-efficacy and positive quality of marriage on the relationship between father involvement and benevolent sexism (b) Serial multiple mediation effects of paternal self-efficacy and negative quality of marriage on the relationship between father involvement and benevolent sexism (c) Serial multiple mediation effects of paternal self-efficacy and positive quality of marriage on the relationship between father involvement and sexist attitude toward child (d) Serial multiple mediation effects of paternal self-efficacy and negative quality of marriage on the relationship between father involvement and sexist attitude toward child are significant. The findings of the current research were discussed in the light of related literature.
