Investigation of the knowledge levels of coaches on the selection of professional qualification and skill in badminton sports

The aim of this study; examine the knowledge levels of coaches in badminton sport regarding professional competence and talent selection. The sample group of the research consists of 245 coaches, 146 men and 99 women, who are coaches in the badminton branch. As a data collection tool in the research, the trainer proficiency scale translated into Turkish by 'Unutmaz and Gençer (2007)' was used. The scale is a 5-point Likert type and consists of 18 items. Research data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 package program. In this direction, the independent-t test was used to determine whether there was a difference between paired independent groups, which is one of the parametric tests. The ANOWA test was used to determine whether there was a significant difference between more than two groups. Tukey-LSD tests were used to determine between which groups there was a significant difference between more than two groups. It was determined that there was no significant difference in the character formation sub-dimension according to the gender variable of the participants (p>0.05), while there were significant differences in favor of the "female" participants in the sub-dimensions of motivation, game strategies, technical education and physical condition (p<0.05). Significant differences were found in the sub-dimensions of motivational game strategies and physical condition according to the coaching year variable of the participants (p<0.05). Significant differences were found in the sub-dimensions of motivation, game strategies, technical teaching and physical condition according to the category variable of the place where the trainers were coached (p<0.05). In conclusion; It can be said that the professional competence of the coaches in the badminton branch contributes to the success of the sport.
