The validity and reliability of badminton specific agility tests

Walklate, four corner, sideways tests are widely used in badminton-specific tests. However, there is no study in the literature that these three tests are applied together and examined, and which test results are more valid and reliable. The aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of badminton specific agility tests. 40 male volunteers aged 18-25 participated in the study. The experiment group consisted of 20 male badminton players with average 6,1 years of training age and participating in regular competitions, and the control group of 20 people without training history and not exercising regularly. While the training module was applied to the experimental group for 6 weeks, no training was applied to the control group. All tests in the study were applied to the experimental group before and after the training program, and only the T test agility test was applied to the control group as pre-test and post-test. "Sample paired T-test" was used to determine the differences between the pretest-posttest values of the experimental and control groups. (P<0,01) The effect sizes were calculated according to the "Cohen d size effect" formula. There is statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test findings of the tests used specifically for badminton. (P<0,01) There was no difference between the findings of the control group. In terms of effect sizes, these tests were found as Sideways 1.46, Four corner 1.25 and Walklate test 0.70, respectively. As a result; The training program applied had a positive effect on all agility tests. In addition, the effect sizes of the tests were determined as Sideways, Four corner, Walklate tests, respectively. The Sideways test was thought to be a more suitable test battery for measuring badminton-specific agility.
