Abstract (EN)

This study, it is aimed to determine the history of Late Cretaceous aged Saytepe Formation carbonates located around the Hadim district of Konya province, by geochemical properties. While the carbonates of the Saytepe Formation are mostly composed of limestone, at some levels they are composed of small amounts of dolomitic limestone and calcitic dolostone. The Saytepe Formation carbonates present insignificant diagenetic alteration and insignificant terrigenous input according to major oxide and trace element properties. Since the K/Rb ratios in Saytepe carbonates are very low, it indicates that the carbonates have not undergone metamorphism. Since the Mn/Sr values of Saytepe carbonate samples are <<3, we can say that they preserve their primary storage characteristics. While Al2O3 values in Saytepe carbonates did not show any correlation with MnO and P2O5, there was a strong positive correlation with SiO2 (r=0.98), Fe2O3 (r=0.86), Na2O (r=0.78), K2O (r=0.99), TiO2 (r=0.97) indicates that Si, Fe, Na, K, and Ti are mostly provided by clay minerals. The Rb/Sr values of Saytepe carbonates are in the form of 0.0003-0.030, indicating that some Sr loss has occurred as a result of diagenetic alteration. While the Th/U values observed in Saytepe carbonate samples vary between 0.08 and 0.67, it indicates that phosphate contamination does not occur, while the very weak (r=0.44) positive correlation observed in the Zr versus Th/U diagram indicates that the contamination is very low. The Saytepe samples showed an open sea (shelf) environment in the Rb-Sr-Ba triangular diagram. In addition, Saytepe samples also indicated the deposition in the shallow marine environment in the graph of Sr/Ba versus Sr/Rb. There is a strong positive correlation between the total rare earth elements of the studied samples and SiO2 (r=0.92), Al2O3 (r=0.94), TiO2 (r=0.81), and Fe2O3 (r=0.81). This indicates that the rare earth elements are supplied by the siliciclastic input.
