SUMMARY PhD Thesis A PROGRAM FOR MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF CIRCUITS CONTAINING SWITCHES USING THE BOND GRAPH TECHNIQUE ArifGÜLTEN Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2003, Page: 102 In this thesis, a new method has been presented for the modelling and simulation of circuits containing switches by using bond graph technique and a computer program BONDAN has been prepared. For this purpose, piecewise linearization approach has been applied to characteristics of nonlinear components. By means of this approach, nonlinear components are modelled by both switches and linear components by using Component State-Switch Position (CSSP) Matrix and control inequalities. In this approach, SSSP (System State-Switch Position) and SSCS (System State-Component State) define the system states revealing with different switch position and different component states, respectively. In this study, an approach which is simpler and more suitable for the physical system has been used for definition of switches. Bond graph model has been obtained for only one system state. On the other hand, the transition to the other system states has been accomplished by the SSCS Matrix. The state, output and switching equations for all system states have been obtained by using the involved matrixes. In addition, the transient and steady state responses have been computed by using the equations. In the analysis, it has been made use of explicit exact formulas.
