The effect of context-based learning approach on acedemic success in the sociel studies course and and attitudes of the students to the course

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using the context-based learning model in the seventh grade social studies course people places and environments unit on academic success and attitude. The sample of the study was 7th graders in a secondary school in Osmaniye province in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study consisted of 49 participants, including 25 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group. In the research, a full experimental model with pre - test and post - test control groups was used. Activities developed according to context-based learning approach were applied to the experimental group and the control group was applied in line with the textbook. Academic success test and social studies attitude scale were used as data collection tools in the research. The data were analyzed with spss 23 program. In the study, it was concluded that activities developed according to context-based learning model had a positive effect on students' academic achievements. However, it was concluded that there was no significant difference in the attitudes of the students.
