Abstract (EN)

Job stress and increasing problems experienced in working life have a significant impact on people. One of the problems faced by working individuals is burnout syndrome. This concept, which entered the literature in the 1970s, is about people being affected negatively after many problems they face in working life. Independent auditing is the most important part of today's business life. The financial data of the companies must be reliable and accurate. The data to be evaluated in terms of financial statement users are highly regarded by everyone in the process. The biggest responsibility for accurate and reliable data rests with the independent auditor. Independent auditors have the most key role in terms of the accuracy of the data to be presented. This study, it is aimed to examine whether independent auditors experience burnout syndrome and the dimensions of burnout syndrome. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to the independent auditors in Mersin province. Demographic characteristics, professional opinions, and burnout dimensions of the Independent Auditors were examined. Maslach Burnout Scale was used to examine the degree of burnout syndrome levels. Various statistical methods such as Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis were used in the analysis of the data. It was concluded that various variables affect the level of burnout. It has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment factors of independent auditors and their burnout levels.
