Analyze of tele-working from the aspects of working conditions issues

Information age has a tremendous effect over the society. One of the main outcomes of information age is telecommunications and information technologies. The use of telecommunications to partially or completely replace daily commuting to and from work is predicted to have a great impact on various fields of society, both directly and indirectly. There are high expectations about using telecommunications and information technologies in order to decrease the commuting costs, time savings, diversification of employment across the country and so on. At this point teleworking seems to answer to those expectations as it is an alternative work style, slowly adapted to business. Working from home as a teleworker has some advantages and disadvantages. In order to understand why it is slowly adopted to business, some empirical studies need to be done with careful analysis of all elements of teleworking. Tele-working in USA and Europe has reached to some points but Turkiye is so new to this working style. Although a large-scale implementation of telework has not yet occurred in Turkiye, in this thesis, we will point out and analyze some visible tendencies in order to understand the effective role of telework. The study is mostly based on the employees those work for high technology companies to see their potential as a teleworker. The telework potential of Turkish work force is analyzed from the management and organizational effects points of view. The study is also compared with international researches.
