Abstract (EN)
This study was planned to examine the effect of the nursing education given according to the Roy adaptation model before the surgery on the postoperative anxiety level, body image and quality of life in patients who are planned to have a bowel stoma. The research was carried out as a single group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental with 47 individuals who were planned to have an intestinal stoma in the general surgery ward of a city hospital between October 2022 and March 2023. Data were collected with the Socio-demographic Information Form, the Quality of Life Scale for Individuals with Ostomy, the Body Image Scale, and the State-Trait Anxiety Scale. Statistical analyzes were made with the NCSS program and descriptive statistical methods (Mean, Standard Deviation, Median, Frequency, Ratio, Minimum, Maximum), normality distribution of data, Shapiro-Wilk Test for comparison of three or more groups, Kruskall-Wallis test for comparison of two groups, Mann for comparison of two groups. -Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon test was used for two-term comparisons. Significance was evaluated at p<0.05 levels. Of the participants included in the study, 61.7% are women, 48.9% are between the ages of 41-60, 87.2% are married, 29.8% are secondary school graduates, 70.2% are not working. 93.6% of them live with their families, 74.5% of them live in the province and have permanent colostomy (44.7%), those who have a stoma due to cancer (66%), those who have never received any treatment (38.3%), It was determined that those who have additional disease (55.3%) and those who do their own stoma care (63.8%) are more common. It has been observed that stoma care training given in line with the Roy Adaptation model improves the quality of life and body image perception in the postoperative period. It is recommended that the study be conducted in larger sample groups. Keywords: Intestinal Stoma, Patient Education, Anxiety Level, Quality of Life, Body Image.
