Abstract (EN)
During the late 14th and early 15th centuries, Turks produced both translations and original works in a variety of fields, especially medicine. The work we have been studying, Bah-nâme-i Taytus (Tîtûs) Yadigar-i Muzaffer Şâh, belongs to the field of medicine and is a work written in the genre of bâh-nâme, which stands out especially in terms of sexual health. This work, for which no known copy is available other than the copy in the Open Access Collection of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Library, comprises a total of 83 pages, including the pharmaceutical formulations found in the final pages. In the work; body structures and properties, foods and medicines useful for health, drugs that increase sexual pleasure, substances that increase sexual power, contraceptives, drugs that are good for male and female genitalia, medicinal plants, wines, theriacs, pastes, ointments, pills, mixtures, drinks and their preparation instructions are explained comprehensively in each chapter. Following these topics, there is a section on the properties of certain foods and the diseases they are beneficial for. In the last pages of the work, the formulations of some medicines are written and the work is concluded. In this thesis, the entire text of Bah-nâme-i Taytus (Tîtûs) Yadigar-i Muzaffer Şâh, one of the bâh-nâmes a genre within the field of medical science has been transcribed; a glossary of the text has been prepared, its indexed vocabulary has been categorized according to specific criteria, and both phonetic and morphological analyses have been conducted. At the top of the goals to be achieved, it is aimed to introduce this work written in the Ottoman period to the world of Turkology and to serve as a source for the world of medicine in terms of its subject.
