The collocations at Bahaettin Karakoc's poems

Since the day semantics occured as an independent discipline manyidea has been claimed about the definition of ?meaning?, but linguistscouldn?t come to an agreement about this subject. Nevertheless they areunanimous that words have connotations besides their elementary meanings.These connotations are bound to certain sentactic rules. However, althuoghthese sentactic rules are obeyed, the compenents of connotations may notgo with each other. So these can be found strange at first, and thecommunity may not recognize this sort of relationship. This causes?collocations? in semantics. In this thesis we studied about the collocations inBahaettin Karakoç?s poems. We chose him because his poems gave manydatas about this subject. We studied his poems which are selected byexemplification method. The collocations in these poems were classified bythe relations among the elements of sentences, and we examined the waysin which collocations occured. As a result we concluded that his mood, theenvironment in which he grew up, and the day he experienced all effectedthe formation of collocations in Bahaettin Karakoç?s poems.Key words: Bahaetin Karakoç, poem, collocation
