Abstract (EN)

In this study. it has been investigated that the effect of weight change on the type 2 diabetes disease among people who have impaired fasting glucose within Balcova's Heart Study in Balçova district. Izmir province conducted at 2007-2008. The people who were in cohort were called by phone and questioned if they are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and some type 2 relevant factors with type 2 development. Student-t test. chi-square test. Mc-Nemar Bowker chi-square test. Cox-regression and Kaplan Meier survival analyses were used to evaluate the effect of factors on Type 2 development. Participants were followed-up 2647 person-year. The incidence rate was 66 per 1.000 person-year. The annual insidence of type 2 was maximum in first three years after diagnosed with IFG . There was no relation between weight change and type 2 development. Nevertheless BMI at cohort baseline. increment of 4 unit of BMI and consuming olive oil was impact on development of type 2 diabetes. We know that fighting against obesity is so crucial to prevent development of diabetes. Therefore urging upon weight control. supporting healthy diet are so important to prevent diabetes especially among people who has IFG.
