Abstract (EN)

Care is a concept that an individual may need due to an innate condition or due to factors such as accident, old age, disability, disease, or disability at a certain period of an individual's life. Care is a very versatile and sensitive process for both the person receiving care and the person providing care. This activity can be provided formally through the hiring of a professional service or informally through family members, relatives, social environment. This set of services, which are predominantly provided through informal care, has become in need of alternative practices as a result of transformations in social and family life. In this context, we come across formal care methods. The rapid development of technology has started to find its place in care services as it affects every field. The aim of this study is to examine the use of technology in care activities for the elderly within the borders of the European Union and Turkey and to analyze its applicability in Turkey. This study examines care technologies for the elderly in the European Union and Turkey. It has been revealed that the share of technology investments and social protection expenditures in gross national product in European Union countries is 25% on average, and 12% in Turkey. In order for the health services to be provided to the elderly to be supported by technology, to be widespread and accessible, it is recommended within the scope of the thesis to increase the budgets allocated within the social state understanding and to focus on R&D teams.
