Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTPreconcentration of copper ions was investigated on the Amberlite XAD-16 resinimpregnated with Carmoisine. The resin was impregnated by contacting with aqueous solution of Carmoisine. Optimalconditions for the impregnation were studied such as batch and column technique, sorbenttype, pH and equilibration time for batch technique. Maximum adsorbtion was obtained atpH=2. Equal amounts of Carmoisine were adsorbed on XAD-16 at this pH when batch andcolumn techniques were used. For the batch technique optimum equilibration time was 2hours.Optimum experimental conditions were investigated for the preconcentration of copper ionson Carmoisine impregnated XAD-16 resin. In these experiments, copper concentration in theeluate was determinated by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Effect of pH was studiedbetween 2.0-7.5 pH values, and maximum sorption was obtained at pH=7.5. For thedesorption of copper ions from impregnated resin, maximum recovery (~ 100 %) wasobtained when 10 mL of 1M HNO3 solution in acetone was used as eluent.Using 0.5 g of resin, a preconcentration factor of 100 was obtained up to 125 µg of copperand 1000 mL of aqueous solution.Developed preconcentration method was applied to the AAS analysis of tap water which isspiked with 20 ppb copper.Key Words: Carmoisine, Copper, Preconcentration, AAS.ix
