Abstract (EN)

Pruning and thinning in hazelnut orchards every year results in a significant amount of fresh shoots, young and old trees. Although decent hazelnut cutting wastes are rare; It is widely used as poles in gardens and greenhouses. The remaining part is only suitable for use as fuel. Despite being a fast-growing species, due to its low natural durability, poles that rot quickly and fail to meet expectations have to be replaced every year. Wood samples of 35x2x2 cm in size, prepared from 5 different hazelnut wood species obtained from Giresun region, were impregnated with CCB (Copper Chromium Boron) and subjected to open field trials. Test samples will be taken every six months from the hazelnut wood samples, which will be kept half buried in the vegetable gardens for a year, and will be subjected to resistance value tests in the laboratory.
