Integrating balanced scorecard with six sigma and an application in Ministry of National Defense

In this study, it is aimed to integrate the application process?s of both Balanced Scorecard and Six Sigma to constitute a new suggestion of model and to exhibit the effects of a Six Sigma project to the strategic goals and targets of an organization, which is applied in the frame of this suggestion of model. The thesis comprises the basic information about both Balanced Scorecard and Six Sigma, a suggestion of model and a research on applicability of the suggestion of model. In the first two chapters of the thesis, basic information about both Balanced Scorecard and Six Sigma is given and suggestion of the integrated model is formed in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter, a research on applicability of the suggestion of integrated model in a Main Maintenance Center, which is under the command of Turkish Land Forces Command, is given. Having carried out the research, it is concluded that the effects of a Six Sigma project, which is applied to a critical process of the organization, on the strategic goals and targets of the organization are seen and thus the suggestion of model is applicable. On the other hand, before applying the suggestion of integrated model it is needed that the strategic planning process be completed. Besides, the strategic goals of the organization must be converted into critical to quality (CTQ)?s and CTQ?s must be divided into four performance dimensions of integrated model suggestion. Also the process sigma number must be calculated according to four performance dimensions of the suggestion of integrated model. And it must be assessed whether the feedback information of Six Sigma project is operational or strategic.
