Missile technologies are among the most critical components of modern defence systems, shaping the strategic capabilities of nations through advancements in aerodynamics, materials science, flight dynamics, and propulsion systems. This thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of the R-27 (SS-N-6 Serb), DF-21, Agni-II, and Jericho II missile systems in terms of aerodynamic design, structural material selection, flight dynamics, propulsion systems, trajectory analysis, vibration stability, and control surfaces. Using MATLAB-based simulations and engineering evaluations, the strengths and weaknesses of each missile system have been thoroughly examined, with their performances objectively compared. The results reveal that R-27 and Jericho II offer low drag and high stability in long-range flights due to their high aerodynamic efficiency. In contrast, DF-21 and Agni-II achieve high speeds in a short time thanks to their compact designs and rapid propulsion systems. The impact of structural material selection on missile performance is also significant; while R-27 and Jericho II favour heavy, durable materials, DF-21 and Agni-II use lightweight composite materials, reducing total weight and increasing speed capabilities. Additionally, Jericho II's extended range and versatile trajectory capabilities provide strategic flexibility, while other systems excel in specific mission profiles. This study highlights the impact of engineering methods and design decisions on missile performance, offering a robust guide for future missile development projects in the defence industry. The detailed analyses presented in this work not only evaluate current missile technologies but also shed light on the potential integration of artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and real-time simulations for the development of next-generation missile systems. In conclusion, this thesis delves deeply into the interaction between engineering and strategic design in missile technologies, providing a roadmap for future defence projects.
