Research of the using fish oil ethly ester in diesel engines

Abstract (EN)

It is aimed to examine the emission values, engine power characteristics and the effects on engine components by using biodiesel fuel in internal combustion diesel engines. Ethyl ester (biodiesel) was produced by adding ethyl alcohol to crude fish oil by transesterification method. Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4), a strong acid, was used as a catalyst. By transesterification method, fish oil is esterified with ethyl alcohol and its viscosity is reduced and it is made suitable for use in engines. The obtained biodiesel was blended with 50% 75% diesel fuel and also used in pure biodiesel. As aresult, B50, B75 and B100 fuel samples were obtained. The properties of these fuel samplesobtained were measured and their standard values were determined. The biodiesel fuels produced in the second stage were tested on an Antor 6LD 400 type engine with a single cylinder, direct injection, air cooling, power of 8.5 HP. In these tests, 4 different fuels were tried, namely D100, B100, B75, B50. The tests were carried out at 100% and 50% loads at 1600, 1900, 2200, 2500 and 2800 revolutions. In these tests, CO, CO2, NOX, HC emissions and soot measurements in the engine were taken. At the same time, the power, torque values and specific fuel consumption values of the engine were measured, and all these measurements were presented and interpreted as graphics. In addition, the engine was disassembled before and after the tests and the effects of the used biodiesel fuel on the engine components were examined.
