Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the yield and quality characteristics of 21 different maize varieties, belonging to the FAO 600-700 maturity group and supplied by various seed companies, under main crop conditions in the ecological environment of the Manyas district of Balıkesir province. The research was carried out during the 2024 growing season using a randomized complete block design with three replications. In the study, tassel emergence time, silking emergence time, plant height, first ear height, stem diameter, ear length, ear diameter, number of kernel rows per ear, number of kernels per row on the ear, cob diameter, moisture content, grain/ear ratio, thousand kernel weight, test weight, grain yield, protein content, oil content, ash content, starch content and cellulose content were investigated. According to the results obtained, statistically significant differences were found for all examined characteristics except for ash content. In terms of grain yield, the P15382 and KWS ELECTRO varieties yielded higher results compared to the other varieties.
