Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, a completely innovative meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is proposed. This new metaheuristic optimization method was inspired by the circular structures on the sea floor which are created by one of the puffer fish species which is called as Torquigener albomaculosus. The basic parameters of the inventive method were determined by the parameters observed during the process of the circular structure of the puffer fish. The process of performing this natural phenomenon has been detailed in this work. In addition, detailed information about the concept of optimization, development process and activity areas is given in the study. Information about the general terms that constitute the concept of metaheuristic optimization are given in this thesis and the metaheuristic optimization methods which are widely used in the literature are explained. The behavior of the puffer fish which is subject to this thesis study was analyzed in detail through the images and videos and a mathematical model of this behavior was realized. Various approaches that will enhance the performance of the proposed method have also been discussed. As a result of the detailed analysis of the circular structures of the puffer fish, the values converging to the golden ratio which is frequently observed in nature were first determined within the scope of this thesis. Performance analysis of the developed method has been performed through a large number of test functions which are frequently used in the literature. In addition, the parameters of the controller structure used to improve the unit step response of an electric motor are also set by this proposed method. The popularity and usage of metaheuristic based optimization algorithms are increasing day by day depending on the evolving computation capacity. It is anticipated that this popularity will grow even further in the future, depending on the ability of the devices that enable scientists to monitor the living creatures in nature effectively and successfully.
