Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to determine and examine the factors that determine the profitability of commercial banks operating in the Turkish banking sector. The analysis of the study, which used annual data between 2004 and 2021 on 9 commercial banks in the Turkish banking sector, was carried out with the static panel data method. Within the scope of the study, return on assets (ROA) as the dependent variable, NPL as the independent variable, NPL, operating profit margin (OPM), interest income (INTINCOME), book value per share (BVpS), Interest paid on three-month term deposits. rate (DEP) was used. As a result of the study examining the factors affecting the profitability of the banking sector, a statistically significant positive relationship was found between the return on assets and operating profit margin, the interest rate paid to three-month deposits and interest income, while a statistically significant negative relationship was found between the book value per share and the NPL ratio. has been done.
