Reasons of employee turnover in banks: a field study in Gaziantep

The aim of this study is to determine the factors that may affect the personnel turnover of the employees in the banks established in Gaziantep and whether these factors change according to age, sex, marital status, position and seniority, and whether they changes significantly or not. In the study, the personnel turnover is considered from a conceptual point of view, the factors affecting personnel turnover (personal characteristics of employees, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, salary, promotion and mobbing) and results of personnel turnover are examined from two perspectives as individual and organizational and these results are examined in detail. A questionnaire including the factors affecting the personnel turnover has been implemented in private banks currently operating in Gaziantep. As a result of this survey, our hypothesis that we have assumed will be tested that the staff turnover and its sub dimensions will change according to marital status, gender, age, seniority year and position. As a result of our research, that the salary included in factors affecting staff turnover changes significantly according to the age groups, and so, salary has affected the turnover of the personnel has been observed. On the other hand, it has been determined that demographic and socioeconomic factors such as age, gender, marital status, seniority did not significantly affect factors affecting staff turnover such as personal characteristics, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, promotion and mobbing.
