General average expenses in a place of refuge

The general average expenses that arising from derogation of the ship from ordinary route to enter into a place of refuge have been examined in the thesis. It is quite possible to make expenses or sacrificies to preserve the ship and the cargo from a common peril in maritime transport. Such expenses and sacrificies are admitted general average on condition that having been made by the required elements and contributed by the ship, cargo and freight. General average expenses in a place of refuge are one of the most observed average expenses at recent times. Firstly the main characteristics of the general average and its history and its elements have been examined in the thesis. Afterwards the types of general average expenses in a place of refuge have been examined according to the York-Antwerp Rules that is applied internationally. Finally the regulation of Turkish Commercial Code and Draft of Turkish Commercial Code related to the subject of the thesis have been examined.Keywords:General Average, Average Expenses, Place of Refuge.Science Code:
