Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the structural evolution, technical and musical specialties of double bass from Baroque Era until today. In historical process, important matters like playing technique, tuning system and bow system have changed and evolved. In orchestral and solo playing, the significance of double bass has increased and it became and important instrument because of its timbre. Also, it is the largest and deepest registered instrument in strings family. The usage of double bass has not been remained limited with classical music, it has been used by composers and musicians in different genres.
