Abstract (EN)
Baroque is an art movement lasting from the middle of 16th century up to middle of 18th century in Europe and until the end of this century in African countries where the colonies of the European countries are present. The balance in Renaissance art, which has strict rules, is distorted with Baroque. In this art movement expression is exaggerated; splendor, extremism and excitement draw attention in the works. In the Baroque style, which is also considered as a reflection of the political environment in Europe, the artists created their works with the sense and understanding of freedom. The human who tries to re-find and understand himself continuously from the beginning of history until today needed to be covered instinctively as well as to be protected from natural life. Dressing with the thought of looking good and being appreciated by others together with the necessities of the era entered social life and became open to temporary innovations throughout centuries via turning into a kind of social appreciation and fixation. In this context, it was aimed to explain the form of clothing, which has importance and determinative feature in terms of status among people, and how this reflects to men's and women's clothing during the Baroque period. From this point of view first, it has been examined that how Baroque style influenced painting, sculpture, architecture and music, how and to what extend these art styles are influenced by this style in the context of genuine examples with general aspects and the works of the artists who made their marks. In the second chapter, clothing styles have been tried to be explained in a chronological order. In addition, the concept of fashion was examined in the context of periods and the development process and the perceptions that it was undergone according to the periods have been revealed. In the light of this information obtained, it has been tried to reveal Baroque style clothing and the reflection to clothing of men and women via Oscar-winning films in costume branch.
