The use of folklor culture elements in Barış Manço songs

Culture is the whole of the values that a society has; It reflects their interests, tastes, expectations and life scenes. It is the art of creatively expressing people's feelings and knowledge by writing them down and creating them in the best possible way, which has been present in every aspect of daily life in the past, with the element of music within this versatile cultural entity. Although today's popular music culture reflects the culture of the culture it belongs to, with the abandonment of the uneducated and Western-oriented people, it is known that there are very valuable artists who have taken it as their duty to transfer the past culture of those periods. In this direction, Barış Manço, who was known first to his own people and then to the whole world with the music he made between 1958 and 1999, the articles he wrote, and the television programs he shot, is among our artists who became a school with their works. Barış Manço, who devoted most of his life to humanity as a cultural ambassador, stated that his art appealed to all segments of society, from children to the elderly, with the slogan "From 7 to 77". As a matter of fact, he appeared before us as an epic, legendary or fairy tale hero with the huge jewelry he wore, his long hair beyond his shoulders, the cloaks and boots he wore, and he blended the moral values that make people human with the music he made; He taught all of humanity with proverbs and idioms, clichés, riddles, and the tales and stories he told. In our study, in Barış Manço's songs, Dede Korkut, Pir Sultan Abdal, Karacaoğlan, Ferhat and Şirin, Yunus Emre, Mevlana, Hz. Reflections of Ali, Lokman Hekim and many other people who have a place in our culture can be seen. Thus, Barış Manço; It is understood how well he knows Turkish folk culture, Turkish folk literature, Turkish folk music, and also the religion of Islam. In this study, in which we examine the elements of Turkish folk culture in one hundred and fifty-four songs of Barış Manço, the artist's private and artistic life, the awards he received, his sayings and opinions about himself are included, in order to get to know Barış Manço closely. Then, many materials belonging to Turkish folk culture were identified in his songs, and Sedat Veyis Örnek's classification was chosen as the method to present these materials in an orderly and understandable manner.
