Abstract (EN)
Barium sulfate is a very important inorganic compound which is mainly used in the petrol industry but in other industries like paint and pharmaceutical as well. As an undesired product in the petrol industry, barium sulfate is a preferred compound in various other fields. Especially in nano size, research is widely conductible because of the surface area of the compound. By adjusting temperature and pH in combination to the additives, crystal size and morphology of barium sulfate can be controlled. Additionally, the reduction of the crystallisation speed takes place. In the first part of this research, polystyrene and alginate were added to understand how those additives effect the crystals' size and the morphology of barium sulfate crystals. As a second part of research, polyacrylic acid, polyvinyl sulphonic acid and polyethylene glycol were added to figure out the reduction of the crystallisation speed. Considering the results of the experimental studies, the added additives in the crystallisation process reduce the crystallisation speed as well as the size of the crystals.
