Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the values of high academic achievement students studying at the eighth grade level of secondary school. The research was carried out with the participation of 3 students with high academic success, 3 family members of these students and 4 lesson teachers studying at the 8th grade level in a state secondary school located in Izmit district of Kocaeli province in the academic year of 2018-2019. The data collected in this study using the case study technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was obtained through semi-structured interview forms. The forms used in the study were created by the researcher by taking expert opinion in the form of semi-structured interview forms for students, teachers and parents in line with the purpose of the study. In order to obtain clearer data in line with the purpose, findings were obtained with semi-structured interview forms by asking deepening questions based on personality traits, academic characteristics and values. The codes and themes were reached by subjecting the obtained data to qualitative content analysis and descriptive analysis. These data are depicted with the help of tables and visuals. At the end of the study, when the values included in the MEB (2018) Social Studies Curriculum and the values aimed to be acquired were compared with the values of the successful middle school 8th grade students obtained in the study, it was seen that successful middle school 8th grade students had human values above the middle level.
