ABSTRACTMedical personel works by shift system and serves 24 hours a day. While servingmedical transactions medical labor force undergoes either direct or indirect risky factorswhice are hazardous to their health. Duration and severity of those risks are important.Medical personel is open to the risks of infection, radiation, all sorts of and mentalillnesses . Some of those risks arise from the enviroment of working place, yet theothers are result from mis behaviors as industrial accidents. Some of the medicalquestions arising from efore mentioned risks may be treated yet some are not curable.Althought some of these risk can be threatable, the others can not be threatable now adays. Medical personel is under risk of bad quality of life and short survive.This study aimed at the occupational risks of nurses and technicians, to defineprecautions among the workers of Başkent University Ankara Adana Alanya and KonyaHospital.Quality of life of medical personel in bad and their span of life is short too. Thisdescriptive study aims at pointing out occupational risks for nurses and tecnicians anddefining necessary precoutions. The study population was consisted of 1002 healthworker and the sample size was calculated as 701 between the date of May-2005-June2006 (70,1%) health worker. The questioniare consisted 41 questions which wasdeternined the lavel of knowledge the occupational risks of health workers, the atlitudeand behaviours of workers, also exposures of risks the departmans. Among those,45,6% were female, 55,4% were male, and educational status; 9,85% secondary school,42,80% high school, 25,58% undergraduate, 20,96% graduate, 0,59% postgraduate.They complains were 70,3% insomnia, 71,2% fatique, 53,2% stress, 48,7% varicosis.They use 98,2% glove to as protect themselves. 53,4% of those under stress whileworking and 65,4% has psychological â¦., %92,3 know about hepatitis B vaccinationand 60,4% vaccinated against hepatitis B, and 80,7% were under the risk of ( enjektörbatması) 85% of Emergency room personnel encounter verbal violence.Although Başkent university worker?s knowledge of occupational risk is satisfactory,education and follow up is needed.
