Abstract (EN)

In this study were examined the change and development of the surface in the process of art history and its reflections on embossed printing. Research has been conducted on the formation, form, form and purpose of use of the concept of surface in primitive times. Parallel to the development of art and printmaking, are questioned the function of the surface and the effect of the surface on this development. Questions will be tried to be examined such as what is the limit of embossed printing in communication with the surface, how possible is the third dimension on a two-dimensional paper surface, through examples of modern and contemporary artists. In this study will be discussed the relationship between the concept of surface and art, printmaking and embossing in three parts. In the first part, will be created the basic ideology of the surface concept, its place and importance in its relationship with different disciplines will be examined and its theoretical infrastructure. In the second part, a chronological analysis has been made in the history of art about when, how and why the relationship of art and printmaking with the surface began, how it took shape with the developing social structure and technological advances, and which surface was preferred for what reasons. In the third part, which examines the relationship of embossed printing with the surface, first of all, the historical birth and development of embossed printing, its application techniques and methods, and then the analysis of the developed technique through artists and their works are based on.
