Employer's duty of wage payment in Media Labour aw

In Turkish Labour Law ?The Regulation of Relationships between Employees and Employers in Media No.5953?, which is widely referred to as ?Media Labour Law? in practice, is the Legislation Rregulating The Relationship Between The Journalist And The Employers for more than 50 years having have entered in to force in 1952. Despite the fact that the regulation was majorly amended in 1961 with Law No.212 and supplemented by additonal clauses in 2008, it still is falling short to qualify as fully comprehensive for protecting the rights of the media workers as regards to the working conditions and the proffesional problems that they face in the sector. The lack of provisions in the Law and the systematic insufficiency resulting in different doctrine and practical approaches when interpreting the provisions in the Law along with the fact that the law has not been subject to many researches in doctrine leads to journalists facing major problems in social and economical terms.The most prominent problem the journalists face in practice can be observed in the area of the service duty of the worker in return to the the employers? duty of paying wages. Since the work contract attributes a duty to both parties, the employer has to pay wage to the worker in return to the work perfromed. Wage payment in return to the performance of work is the core element of a work contract. Apart from being a core element in the work contract, the wage is a valuation and remuneration of the worker labour as well as an essential social factor being the only mean of existence for most of the workers.This thesis will argue in detail on the lack of research in the area of Media Labour Law, the importance of wage, the problems arising from differences in opinion and the other issues arising from the qualifications of the journalism proffession, analysis of the ?Regulation of Relationships between Employees and Employers in Media No.5953? in order to highlight the practical problems, discussions in doctrine, the analysis of the article on Employer?s Duty of Wage Payment in Media Labour Law with refference to the juridicial decisions made.
