Abstract (EN)

In the study, diatoms and the seasonal variations were determinated from epipsammic and epilithic associations obtained from 4 stations at Streams of Batman, between April and September 2009. Sampling was performed monthly. Water temperature, electrical conductivity, pH, total dissolved solid matter, dissolved oxygen, total hardness, organic matter, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, sulphate, chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, silica like some physical and chemical parameters of water were measured in research period.During the study, a total of 50 taxa belong to Bacillariophyta were identified. Navicula, Nitzschia, Cymbella ve Gomphonema genus were most common epilithic and epipsammic diatoms in Batman Stream.Diatoms (Bacillariophyta), in Batman Stream were the most important diatoms in terms of taxon numbers occurence in epipsammic and epilithic and individual numbers. Although, the members of taxa recorded in the most of epipsammic were higher than those recorded in epilithic the highest numbers belong to algae were counted in most of epilithic. The seasonal variations of epilithic diatoms at stations were studied with physical and chemical parameters.Key Words: Epipsammic, Epilithic, Diatom, Seasonal Variation, Batman Stream.
