Abstract (EN)
The Effect of Video Training on Exercise and Pain in Patients Undergoing Abdominal Surgery Aim: This study is a quasi-experimental study which to examine the effects of video training on patients undergoing abdominal surgery who in the postoperative period exercise and pain. Method: The study consisted of patients who had undergone abdominal surgery between June 2017 and June 2018 in Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences Medical Faculty Hospital General Surgery Department in Afyonkarahisar. Participant patients randomly divided into two groups. The first group received nurse-based standard pre-operative training and the second group received video training with nurse-based standard pre-operative training. According to this, sample group formed from 90 patients in total with 45 experiment groups and 45 control groups. Exercises were evaluated twice, postoperatively and on the day of discharge. Since the execution of the study, ethical approval was obtained from Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee. Patient data collected with patient information sheet, state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI-I and STAI form) and VAS form of which pain intensity measurement method. The data obtained in this study analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 for Windows package program with frequency and percentage distribution, parametric test assumptions and t test. Results: When the distribution of the demographic data of the patients included in the study were examined; 51,10% of the participants in the control group were males, 48,90% were females and 84,40% were married. On the checklist at the postoperative and during the discharge, the score of breath, cough, rotation and spirometry was founded to be lower in patients of the control group than the score of experimental group. Statistically significant connection was found between the two groups (p<0,05). In both groups , level of pain did not show a significant difference in the preoperative and during the discharge(p>0,05). On the contrary, significant diffrence were determined (p<0,05) in both of groups at the postoperative. When the averages are exemined, score of pain level 2.7 in the control group in the postoperative and 2.18 in the experiment group was seen. Conclusion: As a result of the study, increase in the frequency of exercise and correct frequency of exercise, decrease in pain level shows, bring to a succesful conclusion in the postoperative period for patients. The study also point that video training as useful as one-on-one training for doing preoperative exercises properly. Nurse desing video training seem appropriate training method to improve patient knowlegde or ability. Keywords: Pain, postoperative exercises, patient education, anxiety, video training
