Woman type and woman education in Battal Ghazi Epic

Literary works shed light on the past of a society. The literary works of a society shed light on the human characters, lifestyles, beliefs, customs and traditions, clothing and eating cultures of the period they are dealt with. In literary works, it is possible to meet people from all walks of life. Women heroes are handled in different ways in the works. There have also been some changes in the characteristics of female protagonists at the point of changes in the lifestyle of societies from past to present and the change in the characteristics desired from individuals in the society. When evaluating a society's position in culture and civilization circles, it is important to have information about the status of women. For this reason, in our study, the status of women in the family and society, their position in the eyes of the opposite sex and their education in the Battalnames, one of the epics formed in Anatolia after the adoption of Islam, and in the creations (novels and films) around Battalnames were examined. It has been tried to determine the changes experienced by the types of women in the Battalnames and the creations around the Battalnames according to the periods they are dealt with. Examining the type of women in Battalnames and the creations around it will contribute to both understanding the past situations of women, understanding the periodic changes women evperience in the works and evaluating the current situation of women. In determining the positions and functions of women, the perspective of the period and the artists' perspective on women was taken into consideration and the functions of the female types in both epic texts and creations were investigated. In our study, the types of women, which were first categorized according to their religious beliefs, were later considered as mother, wife, darling, lover, captive, helper, alpine woman, sorcerer, enemy and figurative types. Thus, the roles, functions, changes and education of women in the society were examined in the Battalnames and the creations around the Battalnames.
