The study of traditional ecological knowledge in Bayburt province from the point of view of folklore

Traditional ecological knowledge is a wide concept that includes the knowledge reflecting the experience peoples have gained through the years and transfered generation to generation.In recent years, as the concepts like natural life, organic life become popular, the importance of this information network has increased more.Regarding this, with the importance of traditional ecological knowledge that is increasing each day, related studies are becoming widespread day by day. All kinds of practices that simplify the public life are about ecological knowledge.This kind of knowledge which peoples gained through years from Architecture to Meteorology, from Botanical Science to Zoology has been changing and transforming in order to find the best while it has been transfering through the generations. In this study, related to Bayburt people's traditional ecological knowledge; knowledge about folk architecture, folk veterinary medicine and zoology, folk calendar and meteorology and folk botanical science have been compiled and written.In the field research, direct observation, participant observation and compilation methods have been synthesized to get information from different source people from various regions with different jobs and ages. In the study, it has been seen that people use ecological knowledge to regulate their daily lives, to do their works effectively, to improve the practices of agriculture and livestock farming and to interpret what is going on around. The importance of fund of knowledge, which could be used as an access to the limited sources has been realized by observations and compilations.
